The song _BLACK ROSE_Your Chastity(Part Two) by CARLOS UCEDDA is an emotional post-punk, dark rock experience. Although the lyrics are not emphasised in the mix, there is a universal understanding of the emotional pain at the heart of its identity. The song explores the narrative of infidelity and how it destroys a relationship. Instead of confronting this pain, the couple within the narrative imprison themselves with inaction and get stuck in a cycle of chastity. The spaced-out vocal performance is used more as an instrument from beginning to end. The despair-soaked delivery communicates emotional vulnerability with every peak and trough of the vocal register.

The reverb adds to the psychedelic vocals. It feels almost like the lyrics are being interpreted from these broken, manipulated thoughts, like these moments of clarity between disarray. Another aspect that stood out was the aggressive synths that stab and poke into the mix from the start of the track. Their stark crispness is unique. Usually, synths like this fade in and out, but in this track, they disappear as quickly as they appear. Using this technique, they make the silence between the synths as much of an instrument as the synths themselves. This feels contextually relevant to a track with Chastity at its core. Absence is a substantial theme, and they use it as an instrument in the track itself. The drumming feels like a constant within the track, tying down the melodic aspects with a rhythmic structure. This foundation gives the melody freedom to ebb and flow, transforming moment to moment. The rhythm is fast and aggressive, creating a sense of anxiety and further connecting the track’s theme to its melodic identity. It is brilliant to see a track so unified in vision from the sonic execution to the narrative structure. It is a bold and uncompromising dark pop track with an emotional core.
