A Story by RICHARD GREEN is an introspective, new age track with some jazz influences that makes its sound feel unique. The track transcends traditional structure for a more flowing sound that evolves as you listen. The key dynamic feels like the relationship between the violin and the piano. Instead of simply feeling like two different composition techniques they feel like two entirely different characters and personalities, dancing as they interact with one another. It is this interaction that truly makes the track special.

The two aspects feel united in defining the melody but have these contrasting textures and sonic palettes that emphasise each other with their differences. The piano feels soft and gentle, pushing the emotional intimacy of the track with these languid runs up and down its melodic scale. It almost feels like in sections, the violin jumps and the piano catches it. There is this mixture of harmony and dissonance at the core of the track's melodic identity. The two instruments will often play the same melodic tone together. In these sections, the power of the track is emphasised. The free flowing nature of the strings puts wind in the sails of the piano, giving this track a forward momentum and energy that contrasts some of the slow, languid moments towards the track’s opening. There are also other moments where the piece emphasises contrast, with each sonic aspect not only exploring different melodies, but each of those melodies feeling directly contradictory. The emphasis helps show off the strengths of each instrument. The flowing nature of the violin is emphasised against the staccato playing style of the piano. The two bounce off one another beautifully and it is this variety which adds richness to the tracks overall sonic tapestry. Although the track does a great job of exploring emotion, it is these moments of interaction which really heighten that and bring the sound to the next level.
