Fired Up by INDOOR FRIENDS is a fun and energetic track about overcoming adversity. With crunchy and crisp electric guitars and an excellent vocal performance, the song triumphs from start to finish. This track is the perfect victory lap to give anyone a sonic shot of espresso, perfect for those bleak commutes into work or laundry day. The first thing that stood out to me was the vocal performance. In a track about overcoming adversity, it feels key to explore the lows as much as the highs and the vocalist from INDOOR FRIENDS does a great job in expressing both of these contrasting emotions.

In the low moments there is a sense of melancholy, without losing the peppy energy of the track. In the choruses, the vocal energy changes entirely, switching to this bold, energetic, and confident delivery which enhances the way the track feels overall. The vocals lead the narrative and the melody follows behind it. It moulds and shifts to fit the vocal. This is especially apparent in the chorus when the guitar follows the exact vocal cadence over the line “you can’t stop me.” The guitar does a great job in emphasising that line, providing tonal contrast to the levity of the voice with its deeper textural layer. The distortion and fuzziness of the guitar in this moment contrasts the bold clarity of the vocals, creating this powerful wall of sound that amplifies the feeling of power in that line, connecting the lyrics to the track melodically. The delivery and musical techniques  truly makes you feel like you can’t be stopped. The use of harmonies are another brilliant aspect which contributes to this sense of power and self belief. Again, they push through the mix in important moments, emphasising key lyrics and giving the track a sense of energy and flow with their presence, as if we’re all united in this sense of power and confidence.

This song is fun and positive while still maintaining a great message about overcoming adversity. Sonically and narratively, this is a song worth your time.
