I Would Do It Shows ROGER RICKS's Introspective Side

I Would Do It ROGER RICKS is an inspirational yet melancholic track about unrequited love and the effort RICKS would go to to win over that person that is perfect for them. I Would Do It aches with that emotional weight beautifully. The execution feels down to earth and relatable, yet elevated through the guitar. I don’t want to bury the lead on this either - all proceeds from RICKS’ music go to children in need. I implore anyone reading this to check it out, give it a stream, and maybe even buy something to help the kids. I’ve also stuck some links to donate directly at the bottom of this review underneath the Spotify embed for I Would Do It.

One of the track’s most important aspects is the vocal execution. The lyrical delivery on tracks like this dictates the tone and can make or break a record. On this track, RICKS comes across as connected to the themes at the track’s core. Every line rings true, even in the more absurd descriptions. The conviction and energy with which RICKS delivers lines about crawling around the world emphasise the yearning for this person in a way that feels real. His connection to his lyrics makes his delivery not only convincing but cathartic to listen to.

The guitar is another brilliant sonic aspect that elevates the narrative. Ever growing and changing, the core element that stood out to me was this high register, crisp guitar run that follows the melody. While staying sonically connected to other aspects of the song, it dances around the main melody and rhythm, adding diversity and texture to the sonic landscape and providing contrast to the down-to-earth honesty of the vocal delivery.

This mix of elevation and candid humanity gives I Would Do It a unique and special tone. Check it out below!
