Inside by SKAR DE LINE is an enigmatic and exciting take on the dark side of self reflection, delving into the collective psyche to discover the lesser considered parts of ourselves. The track floats around the alternative rock space with some influences from electronic music thrown in there to create its unique sound. It is one of those songs that you can engage with on any level. It is a fun and passionate alt rock banger that feels perfectly suited to a late night drive but it also has a deeply emotive and complex narrative that gives you space in the mix to reflect on what the track means to you.

The drum beat was the first thing that stood out to me. It has this trippy style that matches the psychedelic aesthetic of the track. It feels glitchy and syncopated. The rhythm almost makes the track feel like it is frozen in time. The stutter works so well with the video in certain sections. There is a moment when playing cards are frozen in mid air in the video. That energy felt connected to the sonic choice of this specific beat. On top of providing depth to the narrative of the track, the drums also establish the rhythmic foundation that the rest of the track can build on top of. The high end synths are another brilliant addition, they provide an ethereal energy that balances the track out. There is a lot in the low end of this track’s melodic structure and so the synths round out that sound and provide a contrast that elevates other aspects such as the vocals through their sonic juxtaposition. The vocals are excellent, giving away just enough emotion to outline the narrative of the track while still keeping a subtlety that allows the listener to imagine the details for themselves. The power of this track is in the musical and narrative cohesion. Each part strengthens the other in a way that immerses the listener. Check out the video below.
