Just With You by Chandra is a beautiful alt rock track with some pop influences, exploring the little moments that make up our memories of a special someone. It sort of feels like these glimpses of moments with this mist of melancholic joy for the times they’ve shared. The track has a tight and confident sonic palette, reminding me a little of musical theatre. It’s clear the vocals sit at the top of the tapestry, drawing the attention of the listener to the storyline but also the intricacies of the track’s delivery.

The vocal conveys so much with every syllable, you truly get the sense that they are feeling the storyline unfold as opposed to just singing it and that dedication and conviction increases the immersion of the song overall. It pulls you deep into these waves of sound and story. I’m a big fan of the guitar, one part of it follows the vocal from moment to moment, emphasising the important sections of its narrative and heightening its emotional impact. It feels like this guitar is as clued into the storyline as the vocals and this togetherness is contagious. It lends the track this sense of charismatic connection that deepens its impact and makes me feel there was a mutual vision between the different instruments as opposed to a miasma of overlapping tones and styles. The strumming is another really nice touch, it not only contributes to the piece’s timbre and melody but also to its rhythm through its bold pulsating energy. The lead guitar cuts through the mix like butter, immediately capturing the listener’s attention and driving the track forward. It’s a point of difference from its other tones. It explores the extremities of the song’s melody, pushing it to cover the highs and lows of its rich texture. It almost feels like the meandering mind of the singer, flowing between these different emotionally potent moments in their life with this person. This track has a beautiful narrative and a tight tonal execution. Check it out below!
