Paralysed By Satellite Train is a track filled with anguish and desperation but relates an inherent hope through the song’s positive undertones and melodic levity. The song utilises an incredibly strong vocal performance from front to back. This track has a very literal narrative, detailing specific steps around losing hope and direction before rediscovering it. Because of this, the vocal has to do a lot of heavy lifting in terms of showcasing this emotional journey.

The vocalist hits this one out of the park. They nail the technical aspects of the performance such as the breath and pitch control. On top of this, it feels as if they can understand the emotional journey at the core of this song’s narrative. You can feel the deep truth and catharsis through their delivery. They convey hopelessness in the low moment of the track, repeating phases such as “why can’t you heal.” The desperation that they get across with the soft and heartfelt delivery of this line is touching. You feel the bravery it takes to even ask the question. During this part of the song, it feels like even the imaging change and holding onto hope is a challenge. This tone is entirely reversed in the latter part of the track when an angel comes to heal the speaker from their trauma. The relief and newfound confidence comes through in the full and rich vocal performance. The guitar strumming is another strong suit, the brightness of the guitar performance, to me, foreshadows the positive direction the track’s narrative ends up moving in. The crisp performance is also such a joy to listen to. As the music swells from the guitar to the ethereal synths in the chorus, the track opens up, showing a further level of sonic variety, reflecting the ebb and flow of energy established in the song’s narrative. Satellite Train has created a bold and uncompromising banger that delivers narrative clarity and beautiful melody all in one. It’s a combo that makes this piece very much worth the listen.
