TOP TIER by NUK is a track full of bold and confident rap energy, exploring concepts of self belief and steadfast independence with so much conviction that it made me feel more confident just as a listener. I’m impressed by this track’s ability to convey its message without compromising its sonic potential. It stays true to its delivery with these fast, powerful flows. His flow does more than communicate the words he’s singing. He clearly believes it which immerses you as a listener in the track overall.

The concept of having people trying to drag you down and being happy with yourself anyway is at the core of this track’s sonic identity. It feels like the song shrugs off criticism and that part of its identity is in this ability to not care what other people think. The track explores the importance of disregarding the opinions of other people and simply honing in on what you want. In the modern world, especially in music, traits like this are more impactful than ever. The beat is smooth and crisp with several layers of drums overlapping with one another to form counter rhythms on top of counter rhythms. They bounce off and interact with one another beautifully in a way which elevates each rhythmic aspect individually with the contrast of the other. The track doesn’t feel overly busy or intense, it delivers an energetic and engaging rap banger with only a few key elements. The ones that stood out to me were subtle melodic elements, drum machines, and vocals. The simplicity here, if anything, makes the track even stronger. Every element has to stand strong on its own in a way that is not the case in busy tracks with tonnes of sonic influences. Each element has to be strong because there is no room to hide in the track’s structure. The song is as confident in its lyrics as it is in its production. It’s a powerful piece that deserves your attention. Check it out below.
