Whole Damn Heart by MITCH DUBIN is an excellent and heartfelt project. You get a sense of the intense ups and downs DUBIN has experienced and put into his narrative of this track. Despite these ups and downs, DUBIN teaches through this track that it is always important to keep loving and live life open instead of being closed off. It is a wonderful, positive message that I’m sure many will be able to resonate with. With the challenges of day to day life, it can be difficult not to feel jaded but it is moments like that when it is even more important to live a positive and upbeat life, despite the context around you. The vocals are the aspect which first stood out to me about this song.

Far from just delivering the lyrics, there is a sense of soulful truth that comes through in their execution. This, to me, emphasises a level of trust between listener and artist, that allows the listener to become extremely immersed in the story of the track. The softness of the vocals contrast the rough and textured guitar work. The bright timbre of the guitar, and the mix of rhythmic and melodic influences, creates a homegrown feel that adds a unique tone to an already excellent track. Through the contrast between the vocals and guitar, both aspects are made stronger. The drums are another attribute that can’t be overlooked. This track is about being loving and feeling with all your heart and the energy emphasised by the rhythmic component. The drums put a pep into the track, injecting it with a shot of caffeine and connecting the different melodic parts with its rhythmic consistency. It is truly the backbone of the track that deserves its flowers for holding the composition together. I love the way all the aspects of this track work together seamlessly to tell a story and deliver a message that needs to be heard.
